Do you know the signs of a kidney infection?

Kidneys are a vital part of our health and if they are not functioning to its maximum potential, that can lead to many different problems.

The kidneys’ main job is to remove the excess fluids and toxins that it filtrates through and removes it through the urine. Although 80 to 90 % of kidney dysfunction is never really detected until the later phases. So today let’s discuss the many different kinds of signs and symptoms that you can pick up early to keep your kidneys healthy.

– If you notice you’re getting cramps in your muscles. This can be an electrolyte imbalance and this commonly can occur from low calcium or low magnesium.

– If you notice that you’re having a poor appetite even though it’s a very general symptom. Many things can cause it but if the kidneys are not doing its job and you’re building up excessive toxins this can be one of those causes.

– Having swollen ankles and feet is quite common although if you’re retaining excessive sodium this can cause swelling in your feet and ankles as well. Swelling in your legs can also be a sign of heart disease or liver disease and even leg vein problems.

– Chronic persistent puffiness around your eyes can mean that your kidneys are leaking a large amount of protein in the urine rather than keeping it in the body. The presence of protein in the urine is an initial symptom that the kidneys are damaged. A simple test can even be performed at home to detect it. It’s called a urinalysis. If you notice that your urine is foamy and might require to flush several times before they go away indicates possible protein in the urine. This foam may look like the foam you see when you prepare an omelet. As the common protein found in the urine, albumin is the same protein that’s found in eggs. If you ever see any blood in your urine make sure you contact your doctor. Healthy kidneys are supposed to keep the blood cells within the body in the filtering process to create urine. But when the kidneys filters have been damaged these blood cells can start to leak out into the urine. Although having blood in your urine can be a urinary tract infection or even kidney stones.

– If you wake up often from your sleep at night to go to the bathroom to urinate, this could be a sign of kidney disease. When the kidneys filters are damaged it can cause an increase in the urge to urinate although sometimes this can also be a symbol of tract infection or an enlarged prostate in men. Healthy kidneys do many important jobs, they remove the waste and extra fluid from our body, they help make red blood cells. They help keep our bones strong and work to maintain the right amount of minerals in our blood.

– If you’re experiencing dry and itchy skin could be a sign of many different conditions but in advanced kidney disease, the kidneys are no longer able to properly balance of minerals and nutrients in your blood.

– Numerous things can keep us from having a good night’s sleep like stress, anxiety, diet, overweight but when the kidneys are not filtering properly those toxins stay in the blood rather than leave the body through the urine. This can put stress on the body making it very difficult to sleep.

– There is a connection between obesity and chronic kidney disease. Many people with issues with the kidneys face problems like not being able to sleep well, have less energy, or find it very hard to concentrate. This happens with the buildup of toxins and impurities in the blood. This might cause one to feel week.

– The kidneys are also tied in with conditions like anemia which will also make you feel very weak and fatigued.

With all the millions of people worldwide who are suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, or any other immune-compromised disease, understanding your body and learning to become more tuned in early is our best prevention.
